Garden Haul Contest

PRIZES 

One blue (1st place) ribbon will be awarded in the following category:

• Best Garden Haul

RULES

1. Garden haul must be from one’s own home garden, a plot at a community garden, or from a school garden.

2. Garden haul must be from a single harvest on one day from the past year.

3. Individuals may not submit more than one entry.

JUDGING CRITERIA

1. Quantity (40%)

   1. The sheer quantity of fruits and/or vegetables is impressive.

2. Variety (30%)

   1. There is a nice variety of different fruits and/or vegetables in the haul.

3. Color (30%)

   1. The haul includes a beautiful rainbow of fruits and/or vegetables.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Register for the garden haul contest at https://www.dcstatefair.org/2026-contests by 11:00 pm on Friday, August 21.

2. Submit a photo of your entry at https://forms.gle/bbgbcMKs86zakwzQ7 by 11:00 pm on Friday, August 21. For the file name of the photo, please use the following naming convention: Contest Name_Entry Name_Last Name. For example, Garden Haul_Backyard Bounty_Anderson.

   1. Note that uploading documents to that form requires a Google account sign in. If you are unable to access or submit the form, please send your photo submission to contests@dcstatefair.org, with the subject line “Garden Haul Contest Submission.” In the email, include your name, the email you used to register for the contest, and the name of the entry.
