One blue (1st place) ribbon will be awarded in the following category:
Best Pollinator/Native Garden
RULES
Garden must be at one’s own home or plot at a community garden and photo taken within the past year.
Individuals may not submit more than one entry (garden).
JUDGING CRITERIA
Variety (75%)
Garden includes a variety of native pollinator species, planted in clumps.
Health (25%)
Plants in garden appear free of pests, disease, tears, or discoloration.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Register for the pollinator/native garden contest at https://www.dcstatefair.org/2026-contests by 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21.
Submit up to three photos and a description no longer than one paragraph of your entry at https://forms.gle/bbgbcMKs86zakwzQ7 by 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21. For the file name of the photos, please use the following naming convention: Contest Name_Entry Name_Last Name. For example, Native Garden_Front Yard_Anderson.
Note that uploading documents to that form requires a Google account sign in. If you are unable to access or submit the form, please send your photo submission to contests@dcstatefair.org, with the subject line “Pollinator/Native Garden Contest Submission.” In the email, include your name, the email you used to register for the contest, and the description of the entry.
