


Flower Arranging Contest
PRIZES
Blue (1st place), red (2nd place), and white (3rd place) ribbons will be awarded in the following category:
Best Flower Arranging
RULES
This contest is not an official floral design competition and is only open to non-florist professionals.
Individuals must be present in person at the DC State Fair to participate.
Individuals must use the flowers and supplies provided by the DC State Fair. In addition, individuals have the option to bring:
Up to 10 flowers, branches, or other plant parts from their home garden.
One decorative element such as a ribbon or floral pick.
Individuals will have fifteen minutes to prepare their arrangements.
Individuals can keep the arrangements they make.
This contest will be limited to 12 participants.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Composition (50%)
Arrangement includes balance and creatively brings together the components included.
Color (50%)
Arrangement includes colors that work well together and are aesthetically pleasing.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Register for the flower arranging contest at https://www.dcstatefair.org/2025-contests by 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15. Walk-up registrants may also be accepted on the day of the fair if there is space.
On the day of the fair, at the time announced on the agenda and from the stage, create one arrangement out of available components within fifteen minutes.
